Tech in Assamese
I keep thinking about so many times about how the tech industry lacks Assamese people. Like in terms of statistics of the 4 companies I've worked at in my career.
And I have had this urge of contributing to society since a long time. Even since I got introduced to the world of computer science a bit probably in the 9th standard by krishnashish, I really loved how everything was almost free. Giving people chance to create magical things out of nothing with internet + electricity + a computer.
Slowly the many many years at corporate has me thinking of profits all the while. the FOSS thing that got me into this slowly went to pure capitalism. Yet I was always like, I'll make something out of my life first and then do community contributions specially to people of north east India as the region is geographically at a disadvantage to get development. Then comes in the questions like what on earth is development ? is the capitalistic way shown to us by WW2 winners the right way to develop ? Is it really the only way ? And lost in these questions and life in general- I never end up doing anything.
Then I came across a reel in Instagram by tech_bagwitty where she was talking of how she used claude to develop a couple of things and was being helpful in sharing community knowledge that too in my mother tongue. I was truly moved and inspired.
The link to the exact reel is: here
It showed me I don't need to wait and find the perfect way to do things but just do something. a bit by bit. maybe something I always knew. but maybe something that is very easy for me to keep forgetting.
anyway, this is a shoutout to ankita !
